20 Best Jimmy Fallon Skits

Jimmy Fallon

A countdown of Jimmy Fallon's genius on "The Late Show" and "The Tonight Show".

20. Pictionary

It’s a simple game, but one that never fails to deliver. This guest-driven skit pits celebrities against each other in this classic living room game. Who knew that Pictionary could get so cutthroat?

19. Hot Sax

Okay, so hot sax isn’t exactly a skit, but who can deny the pleasure of watching grown men play air saxophone at a moment’s notice?

18. Let Us Play With Your Look

This bizarre live skit involves guests of late night dressing up with Jimmy as mod hairstylist who play with an audience members look. Guests like Anne Hathaway, Don Cheadle and Lindsay Lohan have altered people’s looks with water, shaving crème, and a weird green goop that we’re still not sure what it is.

17. Joking Bad

On the heels of the hit AMC series “Breaking Bad,” Jimmy graced us with his tighty whitey appearance in the first of his series “Joking Bad.” In a world of waning interest, Jimmy must find and deal the best of late night comedy.

16. Catchphrase

Another live sketch that never fails to please is Catchphrase, in which Jimmy and his guest challenge two other surprise celebrities in a ridiculous game of Catchphrase. The worst clue ever has to go to guest Giada de Laurentiis, who told Jimmy, “I eat this for breakfast every morning.” In case you were wondering, it was oatmeal.

15. Downton Sixbey

With the rise in American popularity if the BBC’s “Downton Abbey,” Jimmy and his crew presented the audience with “Downton Sixbey.” This skit comes with authentic downtown music and a list of celebrity guest stars, including Whoopie Goldberg, Brooke Shields and Fred Armisen as “Lady Hedith.” Our favorite? Higgins’ lead foot.

14. Thank You Notes

A Friday night staple, Jimmy takes time to sit down and write 'Thank You Notes' to the things in his life he deems worthy of thanking. Anything from the name Lloyd, to family walking slowly on the sidewalk, to Governor Chris Christie, no one is safe from a Thank You Note.

13. Real People, Fake Arms

Real People, Fake Arms may be one of the more ridiculous skits, but the slap stick humor never fails to please audiences. Will Ferrell showed us his sandwich bar, Miley Cyrus helped Jimmy with his nails, and Steve Carell gave us a glimpse into his Soap Opera days with Jimmy and Justin Timberlake.

12. Games of Desks

Jimmy might not be able to recreate the graphic scenes from “Game of Thrones,” but he replaces it with hilarity. The top of 30 Rock is transformed into a Renaissance-esque village as Jimmy and Higgins face the troubles of the day.

11. Lip Sync Battle

A dark horse among the Jimmy Fallon skits, Lip Sync battle was invented by British comedian Stephen Merchant, alongside John Krasinski and Emily Blunt. Though the battle has seen many guests, our favorite remains the battle between John and Jimmy, ending with John crooning the audience with “I’ll Make Love to You.”

10. The History of Rap

Maybe one of the most popular sketches of late night, Jimmy sporadically pairs op with best pal Justin Timberlake to perform what can only be described as a genius compilation of the history of rap. High energy and classic rap hooks are the signatures of this fantastic bit.

9. Late Night Superlatives

Along the line of his Thank You Notes, Jimmy is known for making superlative lists that give credit where credit is due. Typically reserved for athletes, Late Night Superlatives has also recognized contestants on the Bachelor and foreign leaders. Our favorite: NFL Stars Revenge

8. Interviews with Kristen Wiig

Possibly one of the funniest comediennes in history, Kristen Wiig doesn’t waste an interview with Jimmy on boring questions. Kristen has arrived as Michael Jordan, and even scheduled a first online date during her interview. But the most memorable appearance has to be when she came as Harry Stiles from One Direction. The impression is uncanny.

7. #Hashtags

The cultural phenomenon of the hashtag has swept over us thanks to Twitter. Jimmy and friends take the time in this skit to show us just how a conversation would go if we used all hashtags. #awesome.

6. Ew

This gender bending skit invites male guests to join Jimmy as Sara with no H in hosting her own talk show called “Ew.” Channing Tatum, Michael Strahan and even the first lady herself have joined this teen as they talk about all things ew. Perhaps the best moment is when Suzy shows step dad Gary how to throw a football.

5. Tight Pants

Frequent guest Will Ferrell dons a bowl cut wig and extremely tight pants while he sings to the audience in this hilarious skit. His song talk about how he’s the only one in town wearing tight pants, until Jimmy comes out and shows his tight pants. Needless to say, Will is not happy about someone creeping in on his tight pants turf.

4. Classroom Instruments

Why come with a full band to play on your visit to Jimmy Fallon? The Legendary Roots and Jimmy join musical guests in a green room to perform some of their best hits. From Maria Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas,” to Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” it’s kind of incredible how amazing their songs sound on simple children’s toys.

3. The Chickineers

Dressed as feathery yellows chicks, Jimmy is joined by writers for the show and surprise guests including Amy Poehler, Nick Offerman, Michael Buble and Blake Shelton. Both songs are pretty much genius.

2. Camp Winnipesauke

In this sketch, Jimmy and his best friend Justin Timberlake reenact their time together at summer camp. These two just couldn’t keep their inner song bird quiet, even when it was time for lights out!

1. The Real Housewives of Late Night

It’s no secret that the Real Housewives Bravo Series is an easy target for punch lines, but no one does it better than Jimmy in his rendition of the series “The Real Housewives of Late Night.” Though Jimmy plays a very convincing Mrs. Fallon, it’s the supporting “ladies” that really make this sketch hilarious. Our favorites have got to be the early episodes with Owen of The Roots drunken wife and the when the “wives” of the Indianapolis Colts join in the fun.
