15. What People Think Of You

For a long time, you could get away with "I don't care what you think of me" and "I'll do what I want." Unfortunately for you, Cartman -- you can't do that anymore. At 30 and up, pissing people off will affect your professional life and personal relationships. The people who matter -- aren't impressed. The time where it's okay to be proud of being offensive is long gone. Your relationships with other people have started to matter at this point in your life, and it's time to take care of that like a man. Not a kid.

14. Your General Health

You're no spring chicken anymore, but at the same time -- your life is far from over. If you want to keep feeling young, you have to start taking care of yourself. Even if you think working out or going to the gym is for douchebags -- be one of those douchebags. You're going to start slowing down pretty soon and if you don't make good eating and exercise habits now, you're going to feel a lot older than you are -- a lot sooner.

13. Basic Rules Of Grammar And Spelling

Basic Rules Of Grammar And Spelling Twitter
Yes, it does matter if you mix up their/they're or who/whom. You're past the age where it's acceptable to end your sentences with a preposition. You learned in high school (hopefully) that a lot should be two words. Use this stuff. You'll never be taken seriously by anyone who matters if you put something out there with blatant misspellings. The red line is there for a reason. Using crummy grammar makes you look stupid, and you're past the age where you should be okay with looking stupid. Have pride in yourself.

12. Your Clothes And General Appearance

Once again, at this point in your life, you need to accept that appearances matter. You should have some sort of aspirations to do something cool or make something of yourself. Or at the very least, to be taken seriously. A man at your age that can't dress himself, or look presentable -- will not be taken seriously. Did you ever wonder why people are being snotty or condescending to you? Maybe because you're dressed like a slob?

11. Being Educated And Acting Like It

You should be able to find Ukraine on a map. You should know the difference between a turtle and a tortoise. You should know what the GDP is. You learned a lot of this in school, and if you would like to be taken seriously as a man, the time for celebrating ignorance is over. It's not cool to be dumb, and you shouldn't wear stupidity as a badge of honor. If you don't know these things, maybe look them up? Or ask?

10. Being Able To Use A Computer

While you're at it... a smartphone too.

We no longer live in a world where you can get by without knowing how to use your computer and smartphone. Whether you like it or not, that's just the way things are. When you proudly declare that you don't know how to work a computer, everyone there just lost a measure of respect for you. It's another example of not being proud of ignorance. If you don't know how to use a computer, learn. It really isn't that hard, and you need to learn.

9. Not Looking Foolish

Once again, you no longer have the "I don't care what you think" option. Nobody wants to be that guy, and if you are that guy -- it affects your life. Like it or not, nobody likes an idiot. If you're dressing like a kid, or making dumb jokes, trying to be cool and failing; it's off-putting. If you want to advance in your career or anywhere else, you need to be taken seriously. That's not going to happen when you're still going to the club.

8. Boring Grown Up Stuff

Paying for homeowners insurance isn't sexy, but it needs to be done. While you'd probably much rather spend your money on booze and strippers, sometimes life insurance is where it needs to go. At this point in your life, you should be able to take care of business. If there's enough left over for booze and strippers, by all means -- go nuts. But a 30-plus man should know how responsibility works.

7. Learning The Difference Between "Adult" And "Old"

When it's time to act like an adult, that does not equate to "old and boring." When someone tells you that it's time to act like an adult, they're not telling you to be old and boring. The difference is huge and it's time to learn that. Time passes and you have to accept it. If you want to be treated like a grown man, act like a grown man. That doesn't mean acting old and boring. Balance... find it.

6. Your Attitude Regarding Your Career

Your soul gets crushed in a cubicle because you allow yourself to remain in a cubicle. The more you whine and moan about work, the longer you're going to stay there. Nobody wants to sit in a cubicle forever, and rather than complaining about it -- maybe do better at work? It's not being a brown-noser if you're trying to advance your career. And don't tell the lie "I'm happy where I am." You're not.

5. Separating What You "Can Say" From What You "Should Say"

A man knows when to hold his tongue. Conversely, a man does not say whatever comes to mind and defend it with "Freedom of speech, mofo!" (that's also not even what that means.) There are things that need to be said, but at the same times there are things that need to be thought and not said. That's not tyranny, that's "not being an a-hole."

4. Having Nice Things

Nice things are nice. That should be justification. But having nice things is handy in a few situations, not the least of which being if you're single. Pretty obvious there. But it also goes into the idea of being successful and feeling like it. If you feel successful, you'll go on to more success. You want to get the nicest version you can afford, so you reward yourself. It's what grown ups do.

3. Getting Into A Healthy And Stable Relationship

Your fear of commitment is stupid. While it's kind of fun to hook up a lot, it's time to maybe get into a functional relationship with someone you enjoy. You had your chance for all of that, and it was probably pretty awesome. Being a man-whore in your 30s is pretty sad and pathetic.

2. Having A Constructive Leisure Time Activity

You know what they say about idle hands? You have to fill your spare time with something, and it makes no sense to waste it. You're too old to be taking your time up with kid stuff like paintball or skateboarding. Find a hobby like restoring cars, triathlons, competitive bbq... something. You don't want to be 34 years old and hanging around rc car shops. That's pretty pathetic.

1. Letting Go Of Your 20s

When you tell some men that it's time to grow up, they become a petulant child. "I don't ever want to grow up, I'm gonna be cool forever, you don't tell me what to do!" they say, as they look like a kid throwing a tantrum. Let it go. You've grown up now, and you have to put childish things aside. Being an adult is actually kind of fun. You're making more money, you're allowed to do more things, and you can call your own shots. Hanging onto your 20s is pathetic.
